Post Tour Notifications: What are they? How are they set up?
The basics of setting up notifications can be found in our article on How To Create and Customize Your Confirmation Emails. We will, however, go over specific set-up aspects of a Post Tour Notification briefly here.
A post-tour notification is different from a booking notification in that it will contain tour-specific information. As the name states this is information you want to provide your guests after the tour.
- From the navigation bar, select Settings > Notifications.
- When creating the notification be sure to select the correct type on the left sidebar. This is a Tour Notification.
- This is a scheduled notification. Make sure you specify how long after the tour ends you would like the tour notification to be sent. If you are encouraging customers to rate the tour you will want to keep this within 48 hours of when the tour took place.
Best Practices for Post Tour Notifications
- Use Smart Tags. Smart tags are a great way to personalize the notification they pull information, like the customer's name, into the notification.
- Create a Review Request. So much can be dependent on your OTA ratings. The steps below are to create a simple review request in a post-tour notification. Check out this webinar for more details and examples.
- From the navigation bar, select Settings > Notifications and select Tour Notification (per steps above).
- Provide a clear name for the notification. If your business is dependent on the weather or wildlife (such as whale watching tours) you may choose not to enable the rating request to be sent automatically but instead send this notification manually via the Manifest tool.
- If you are enabling this notification, we recommend you set the send schedule fairly close to the tour time. Ideally within 48 hours.
- Again, use Smart Tags to personalize.
- Add messaging and any logos or images needed.
- Below the logo, provide a link to your tour on Tripadvisor with a message to "click here".
- If you do want to send this on a manifest basis you can pull the manifest up
- Select send manifest from the passenger list
- And send your rating request to those on the list
- From the navigation bar, select Settings > Notifications and select Tour Notification (per steps above).
