Overview
In Zaui, Price Codes refer to the price that you will attach to a particular tour, activity, rental, or trip. This article will walk you through how to set up price codes for Standard, Rental and Interval Activities and which ways are more beneficial for your product type.
For detailed information on creating Price Codes for Private/Group/Charter Activities, check out Step 2 of this article.
This article will cover the following topics:
- Types of Price Codes
- Hourly Rental Price Codes
- Online Service/End-Point Price Codes
- Passenger Price Codes
- Intro to Point to Point Price Codes
- Intro to Private/Group/Charter Price Codes
All pricing and taxes entered into the system should be entered up to 6 decimal places. This is important because if you start selling a higher quantity of a particular product or activity, you run the risk of rounding errors. |
Types of Price Codes
Price Code Name | Definition |
---|---|
Hourly/Rental | To be used for Rental activities whose pricing is structured based on an hourly rate. Ie - bike rentals. |
Online Service/End-Point | To be used with remotely connected activities which require the price to be requested in real-time from the supplier. The supplier provides the endpoint which is used to check the pricing. |
Passenger | To be used for all activities whose pricing is structured per person or per seat. Used on Standard and Interval activities only. |
Point to Point | To be used for all activities whose pricing is structured based on pick-up and drop-off locations. Used on Point to Point activities only. |
Private/Group/Charter | This price code only displays in the Private Charter Tool. |
When setting up your activity, you can add price codes that are either based on the Activity Date or the Purchase Date. For example, you would like to offer a cheaper price for bookings made from November 2020 to March 2021 for your April-June 2021 tours, and a regular price for bookings made during your operating season. Keep this in mind when you are creating your price codes and whether the rates are based on the date of the tour or when the tour is purchased.
Hourly/Rental Price Codes
Creating your Price Code
- From the navigation bar, select Settings > Manage Price Codes.
- Click on Create Price Code from the shortcuts panel.
- Set the Type to Hourly/Rental.
- Enter the price code Name.
- Down the left side of your New Price Code set-up, you can enter your Time Range(s) that will be used for pricing.
- Flat Rate means that regardless of the length of time a customer rents equipment, the price will remain the same. To use this type of pricing, enter 0 - (whatever maximum number of times the rental can be booked for).
- Hourly Rate means that pricing can be set up by the hour. To use this type of pricing, enter 0-1, 1.1-2, 2.1-3 etc. in the Time Ranges Start/Finish fields.
- Enter the price per equipment, in each time range, remembering to exclude tax to six decimal places (to avoid rounding errors).
Range Definition and Use
Time Range (Hrs): This field is used for Rental activities that are using a different price based on time. Example: 1hr-24hrs: $50.00; 24.1hrs-48hrs: $100.00.
You can enter fractions of an hour for pricing by small time increments. For example, 0-0.5, 0.6-1 for pricing by the half-hour. |
In the correct example below on the left side of the table, if an adult rents a bike for under an hour, they will be charged $10. For anything over an hour up to two hours, they will be charged $20 and so on.
Correct Example | Incorrect Example | ||
---|---|---|---|
Hrs | Price (senior, adult, etc.) | Hrs | Price (senior, adult, etc.) |
0 - 1 | 10 | 0 - 1 | 10 |
1.01 - 2 | 20 | 2 - 3 | 20 |
2.01 - 3 | 30 | 4 - 5 | 30 |
In the incorrect example on the right side of the table above, if you try and price between 1 and 2 there will be no pricing. The same is true between 3 and 4

Range Definition and Graduated Pricing
Range(pax): This field is used for Passenger and Point to Point price codes. It can be used for any activity whose pricing is graduated (reduced pricing based on passenger numbers). If you do not offer graduated pricing, the lower limit can be set to 1 and the upper limit to 100.
Example of non-graduated pricing:
1 adult pays the same regular fare as any other number of adults who book.
Example 1 of graduated pricing:
1 to 5 adults pay a regular fare, 6 to 10 adults pay a reduced fare, and 11+ adults receive an even lower rate.
Example 2 of graduated pricing:
You are offering a set price for a tour no matter how many passengers will participate. This graduated pricing setup is common for Private Activities. In the example below, the price for the tour is $299.00 no matter how many passengers are included in the tour. For the first range, enter 1 - 1 and input the total price for the private tour. Then, input 2 - 100 and enter $0.00. This means when you have 2 or more passengers on this private tour, there will be $0.00 added to a total of $299.
Calculating Using Individual Pax
This section will show you how differently your graduated pricing will calculate based on whether or not the Calculate using Individual pax? checkbox is ticked. The example below is based on the Passenger pricing set-up screenshot for Example 1 of graduated pricing above.
By checking the Calculate using Individual pax? flag you can only use one passenger type. |
Calculate using Individual pax? Unchecked |
Calculate using Individual pax? Checked |
|
---|---|---|
2 Guests | 2 x $100 = $200 | 2 x $100 = $200 |
8 Guests | (5 x $100) + (3 x $90) = $770 | 8 x $90 = $720 |
13 Guests | (5 x $100) + (5 x $90) + (3 x $80) = $1,190 | 13 x $80 = $1,040 |

Charter Price Codes are similar to Point-to-Point Price Codes with the exception of two differences: pricing can be built per vehicle(s) and pricing can be one flat rate as opposed to per passenger. For flat pricing, set the "Range" from 1-1 as seen below:
If you have different pricing for different vehicle types, you can assign the equipment to its relevant price code. For example, a Luxury SUV Charter Price versus a Sprinter Van Charter Price.
