Overview
This article outlines the steps to connect Stripe Terminals to Zaui. Before proceeding, ensure you have completed the setup for Stripe’s BBPOS WisePOS E Terminal by following the instructions in that article.
Getting Started
The first step in Zaui is to configure Stripe as the default payment gateway. Log in to your Zaui system and navigate to Settings > Credit Card Processing.
If you haven’t already connected your Stripe account to your Zaui system, check out this article for steps on how to do that:
If you already have connected Zaui to Stripe, check that the default payment gateway is Stripe. The default payment gateway is indicated by the green dot beside the payment gateway in the list. Non-default payment gateways are indicated by an orange dot. Click the orange dot to change the default and set as the active (default) gateway.
If you happen to have more than one payment gateway, make sure you enable the Stripe account that you’ve connected your Stripe terminal to |
Connecting to the Stripe Terminal to make payments
From the Zaui dashboard create a test booking for any activity on any date. Add all of the necessary booking details and click to process through until you get to the payment screen.
Click to select Credit Card as your payment method. Once you’ve clicked on Credit Card, you will see the Payment Information and an orange 'Connect Terminal' button.
Click the 'Connect Terminal' button to open up a popup that will contain a list of all the terminals you have connected to your Stripe account. Select the terminal you would like to use by clicking Connect.
You will only need to connect the terminal once. When you complete this step, Zaui Core will automatically connect to the same terminal each time you click Credit Card as your payment method.
The best practice is to only have one terminal connected to one device or you will need to consistently connect the terminal every time you wish to take payment |
Once you click on the Connect button, the system will work to create the connection between Zaui Core and Stripe:
Once that process is complete, you will see the terminal successfully connected. You can choose to disconnect the terminal at any time by clicking on the gray Disconnect Terminal button:
To continue processing payment, click on Process Booking. The screen will then change to the following which means that your terminal is waiting for you to complete payment:
When you see this screen, turn to your terminal to process payment. You can either tap or insert the card to pay.
Once payment has been successfully processed on the terminal, the Zaui Core screen will automatically update showing you the itinerary screen with a confirmation number and outstanding balance of $0.00
Processing Credit Card Payments over the Phone
If you are making a booking for a customer who is providing credit card details over the phone, disconnect the terminal and the payment detail fields information will reappear on the page. Simply reconnect for the next in-person payment.
Refunding Credit Cards
If a guest needs to be refunded, follow the same process to refund a credit card payment described in article How-to-Refund-Payment. The refund will be processed within Zaui, the Terminal device is not required.
Tap will not work with Debit, you will need to insert the card to process payment |
