Overview
Stripe’s Terminal devices are physical devices, connected to your Zaui system. They allow users to accept in-person payments to take advantage of lower processing rates because payments made via the terminal are considered to be card-present transactions by the payment gateway. Additionally, they allow users to accept debit cards.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to get your Stripe terminal device up & running. A few points to note:
- Terminal reader model availability differs by country. To see a list of devices available to your company, log in to your Stripe account to view the available options and make purchases of the device.
- You must have a Stripe account to use Stripe readers. They are certified to the payment gateway and will only work with your Stripe account. They are not compatible with any other payment gateway.
- Decide what application the device will be used for; whether mobile or web.
How to set up your Stripe Terminal
Start by plugging in and powering up your new Stripe BBPOS WisePOS terminal.
Follow the initial set up steps for your device described in Stripe's BBPOS WisePOS E Set up documentation
Next you will need to connect the terminal to the internet either by using Wifi or via an Ethernet cable.
Now, log into your Stripe account and, from the sidebar menu on the left, go to Products > Terminal.
Here you will see an overview page with the summary of the device(s) you have ordered. Go to the Readers tab and click to Register Reader.
Follow the prompts to enter your registration code, order number or serial number.
Once the code is accepted, you will then be asked to add a reader name (recommended if you have more than one device) and a location.
Click to add a new location and complete the fields for the location where this device will be residing.
Once this step is completed the device will begin to update if needed.
When the updates are completed you will see your reader has been successfully connected in the Readers tab in your Stripe account.
You are now ready to use the terminal with Zaui Core! Now go to this article on how to use the terminal with your system.
Best Practices
- Connecting over Wifi is a beta feature. If you’ve connected your terminal via wifi, have an ethernet cable on hand to avoid any disruption to your business if the wifi connection isn’t stable.
- Leave your Stripe terminal connected to power at all times so it can update automatically as needed. If you unplug your terminal from the power source, it will turn off.
