How to Connect Zaui with TripAdvisor/Viator

Overview

TripAdvisor/Viator is an online travel agency (OTA) specializing in tours, activities, and attractions. Founded in 1999, Viator is one of the largest and most established tours and activities marketplaces in the world. Acquired by TripAdvisor in 2014, Viator powers the Things to Do section on TripAdvisor, connecting over 415 million monthly travel planners with bookable experiences.

By connecting your Zaui system to TripAdvisor/Viator via API Connectivity and Zaui’s Channel Manager, you can:

• Automatically share live availability.

• Allow TripAdvisor/Viator to create, update, and cancel bookings directly in Zaui.

• Eliminate manual booking entry and reduce operational overhead.

Step 1: Register with TripAdvisor/Viator and Create Your Products

Before connecting Zaui to TripAdvisor/Viator, you must have:

• A Supplier Account with TripAdvisor/Viator.

• Products listed in the Viator Management Center.

To register:

1. Sign up at Viator Supplier Registration.

2. Complete your business profile and provide contact details.

3. A TripAdvisor/Viator representative will reach out within 2–3 business days to confirm details and agree on commission/net rates.

Notes:

• We recommend you include high-quality photos and describe your product in detail.
• Your TripAdvisor/Viator product date ranges and times exactly match date ranges and times of corresponding activity in your Zaui system. Check this link or contact TripAdvisor/Viator if you need assistance with creating this product.
  

Step 2: Create TripAdvisor/Viator as a Company in Zaui

Bookings from TripAdvisor/Viator via API appear in Zaui as Paid with the Voucher payment type. For correct accounting and reporting, set them up as a Wholesale Company.

To create the company:

1. Go to Resellers > Companies > Company List.

2. If TripAdvisor/Viator is not listed, click Create Company. If it’s already there, click to edit.

3. Enter the Company Name (required) and optional details.

4. Under Rate Type, select Wholesale (Discount/Invoice).

5. Assign a Rate Code matching your agreed commission/net rate and select applicable products.

1. Step 3: Enable the TripAdvisor/Viator Channel in Zaui

   1. Go to Resellers > Channel Partners.

   2. Select TripAdvisor/Viator on api.zaui.io. (If you see the old label “TripAdvisor/Viator on api.zaui.io” under Contacts > Manage Channel Partners, select that.)

   3. Under Channel Information, set Map reseller to account to the TripAdvisor/Viator company you created.

   4. Check Enable Channel to activate the connection.

   5. (Optional) Enable alerts to receive an email when TripAdvisor/Viator performs API actions, and add notification email addresses.

   6. In Channel Rules and Controls, define which activities TripAdvisor/Viator can access and any applicable inventory rules.

   7. Click Save.

   Finding Your Supplier ID:
   Log in to the Viator Management Center — your Supplier ID appears next to your company name in the top right corner.

1. Step 4: Map TripAdvisor/Viator Products to Zaui Activities

   1. In the Viator Management Center, go to the Products tab.

   2. Click Manage next to the product you want to connect.

   3. Select the Product Connection tab.

   4. Click Edit next to the product option.

   5. From the list of Zaui activities (shared via the TripAdvisor/Viator channel), select the corresponding activity.

   6. Click Connect — the status will update to Connected.

   Troubleshooting Mapping Issues:

   • If you see error TGD00024, review your channel setup in Zaui or contact connectivity@zaui.com.

   • If you see error TGDS00028, wait 12 hours before retrying.

   • The Product Connection tab is only available to users with Product API mapping permissions in Viator.

   

Step 5: Important Things to Know

• Supported Activity Types: Standard, Interval, and Ticket. Custom, Point-to-Point, Rental, Packages, and Products cannot be connected.

• Passenger Types: Must match exactly between Zaui and Viator listings. Mapping passenger types is not currently supported.

• Pricing Options: Zaui pricing options cannot be connected.

• Date/Time Matching: Activity date ranges and start times must match exactly.

• Interval Activities: Use one product option with all available start times to avoid booking flow issues and connection errors.
