What Triggers a Notification
Notifications appear only when something important happens in your system. Examples include:
Security-related events
Several failed login attempts
A login from a new device
Changes to user permissions
Integration and connectivity issues
An OTA channel (e.g., Viator, GetYourGuide) is being turned on or off
A partner system is temporarily unreachable
A Marketplace app is being installed or uninstalled
Data or configuration changes
Expiring or invalid settings
Booking issues
System announcements
Each notification appears only if it applies to your system and settings.
Who Can See Your Notifications
Each notification has its own visibility rules. Depending on the type:
| Visibility | Who Sees It |
|---|---|
| Admins Only | Only system administrators |
| All Users | All staff members with a login |
| Specific User | Only the user the message is meant for |
| Clear for Everyone | If any user clears the message, it disappears for all users |
If someone on your team saw a notification that you didn’t, it’s usually because of visibility rules or the message was already cleared.
Do I Need To Take Action?
Not always. Many notifications are informational.
You may need to take action if a notification:
Mentions access, security, or failed connections
Indicates something is blocked, disabled, or not syncing
Specifically asks you to review, update, or confirm a setting
You usually don’t need to take action if:
The notification confirms a successful or completed change
Another user on your team already addressed it
It disappeared after being acknowledged or expired
Everything in your account continues to work as expected
If you’re unsure, our Support team can quickly confirm whether anything is required.
Why Notifications May Disappear
Notifications disappear automatically when:
They expire- Many notifications are time-sensitive and automatically hide after a certain number of days.
They’re acknowledged- If a notification is “globally” acknowledged, it disappears for all users.
They’re replaced by a newer version- Some notifications update themselves instead of creating duplicates.
They’re cleaned up by the system- Older or expired notifications are automatically removed to keep things tidy.
If you remember seeing something yesterday but it’s gone today, it likely expired or was cleared by someone on your team.
Types of Notifications
Below is a user-friendly explanation of the most common notification types.
Multiple Failed Login Attempts
You’ll receive this if somebody tries to log in to your system with the wrong password too many times.
This protects your account from unauthorized access.
What you should do:
Make sure you’re using the correct login page
Try resetting your password if needed
Check with your team if someone else attempted to log in on your behalf
New Device Detected
This happens when someone logs in from a device or browser the system hasn’t seen before.
This helps you verify that unexpected access isn’t happening.
What you should do:
Confirm whether the login was yours
Reset your password if the activity seems suspicious
User Permissions Updated
This appears when an admin adjusts someone’s access or role inside your system.
What you should do:
Review the change if you weren’t expecting it
Contact your admin if something looks incorrect
Code Injection Detected
This means text that was entered into a form looked unusual—such as copied text from Word, special characters, website links, or code-like symbols.
This is usually not malicious.
Most commonly caused by copy-pasting formatted text (e.g., from Outlook or Google Docs).
What you should do:
Try pasting the text as “plain text” instead
Reach out to support if it keeps happening
Channel Enabled or Disabled
You’ll see this when a partner integration (like Viator or GetYourGuide) is turned on or off.
What you should know:
Turning off a channel stops inventory syncing and availability updates
Turning it on means bookings may start flowing in immediately
Connection Error: Remote System Unreachable
This happens when a connected partner system is temporarily not responding—for example, an OTA outage or a payment provider slowdown.
What you should do:
Re-try the action later
Check the partner’s status page if available
Contact support if the issue continues
Marketplace App Installed / Uninstalled
You’ll receive this if an app in the Zaui Marketplace is added or removed.
Examples of impacts:
Inventory syncing
CRM connections
Pricing or schedule imports
Automation tools
If it wasn’t intentional, check with your team.
Why You May Not Receive a Notification
If you expected to see a notification but didn’t, here are the most common reasons:
It didn’t apply to your system
It was visible only to admins
Someone on your team cleared it
It expired before you checked
It was replaced by a newer notification
It was already cleaned up by the system
Summary
Notifications are designed to help you stay informed about security, integrations, and important system activity. They appear only when relevant, follow visibility rules, and may expire automatically to keep your inbox clean.
If you ever have questions about a specific notification, your Support team can help explain what triggered it and whether any action is needed.
