Overview
There are two ways of building a Buy One, Get One promotion in Zaui. If you have a specific tour or activity that you want your guests to book in order to qualify for a discount on another specific tour or activity, then this article covers that scenario!
If you are looking to offer your guests a discount for any other tour when they've booked a minimum number of passengers, then the article you are looking for is this one: How to Set Up a General Buy One, Get One Promo
If you would like more information on promo codes and the basics of how to set them up, take a look at this article: Setting up Online Promotional Codes
To start setting up your promo, navigate to Settings > Pricing > Promo Codes > Select Create Online Promotional Code from the sidebar on the right-hand side of your screen.
Section 1: Online Promotional Code Information
In the first section, you will need to choose your promo code name (what guests will enter to redeem the offer) along with the description and validity dates.
You can either enable your promo code right away or come back to this step once you are all ready to go with your code!
Section 2: Promotional Code Component Configuration
In this next section, you can set the activity dates the code is valid for along with days of the week.
| If you would like to encourage guests to book during a certain time period, you can have your promo code valid for today's date but the Valid if ACTIVITY DATE if FROM section would be the time period in the future. |
If you would like to have a minimum number of passengers booked in order to qualify for the discounted rate, you can select that minimum by inputting your number in the Valid if minimum booked option. If you would like to have no minimum requirement, you can simply leave all the passenger types as zero.
In our example, we have opted to have a minimum requirement of two adults booked to qualify
You then need to specify the maximum uses per code. Unless you want to restrict the number of codes used, the best practice is to set MAX uses per code as a fairly high number since you want to avoid guests not being able to use the code because the maximum has been reached.
You can then determine the type of discount you would like to offer, either Flat or Percentage, and then input the value of the discount. In the above example, we have set it up as a percentage discount of 100.
In this next step, you can choose what the discount applies to and the number of items. In the case of a BOGO, these two settings do not apply.
In the Required Activities section is where you will determine the activity for the "Buy One" part of your promo. This is the activity that guests will need to book in order to qualify for the "Get One" part.
Once you've selected your activity, you then need to enable the Apply full discount based on passengers booked. This is a crucial step as without this enabled, your BOGO will not work.
You can then select the passenger types that your promo code applies to. If you would only like to discount adults as we did in the example above, you need to enable the box next to Adults. This will prevent guests from being able to use the discount for all other passenger types.
The last step is to set up the "Get One" part of your promo! To add your activity, click the Add button to Apply to ONLY these activities and select your activity from the list.
Now that you've completed this step, scroll to the top of the page and be sure to click SAVE!
A few key details to remember:
-
Only one activity can be listed in the Required Activities field. Currently, you cannot have more than one activity as the "Buy One"
-
A specific activity (different from the required activity) must be selected in Apply to ONLY these activities field, you cannot opt to apply to any activity
-
Not currently valid for Packages, Rentals or Products
-
The required and discounted activities have to be different, you currently cannot offer a BOGO on the same activity.
-
The Apply full discount based on passengers booked checkbox is always visible but will apply if only ONE required is present and the box is enabled
-
The promo will only discount the number of passengers on the “get one” activity as are booked on the “buy one”. So if the “buy one” activity has 2 adults and the “get one” activity has 4 adults, the discount will only apply to two of the four adults.
