Connecting to Hardware Devices

Overview

The Zaui Mobile app allows you to manage your business in real-time. With the app, you can access key features of your Zaui software on the go. 

In this article, we will be going over the steps to connect the below external equipment to your device (iPhone, iPad, Android) and use them with the Zaui app.

Bluetooth Pairing Between Devices

First, make sure you have installed the Zaui Mobile App onto your device. Check-out this article for step-by-step instructions.

Any external equipment that you want to use with the Zaui App needs to be paired with your device via Bluetooth. Make sure you are logged-off from the Zaui App and that it is not running in the background.

IOS

  1. On your device go to Settings How to Remove Annoying iOS Prompts Asking You to Finish Setting Up Your Device - MacRumors.
  2. Select Bluetooth and switch it on. 
  3. All devices nearby will be listed below.

  4. Select the hardware device you wish to pair with.
  5. Sometimes there will be a beep sound indicating the pairing has been completed. 
  6. Once the hardware device has been paired it will show on the list of devices indicating that it is now "connected".
  7. Exit the settings page and go to your Apps Screen.
  8. Launch the Zaui Mobile App.
  9. After logging-in and the loading of the 30-min activities screen, tap on the Settings Icon. 
  10. From the list, tap on Select Printer or Cash Drawer (depending on the hardware device you are pairing).
  11. The hardware device you paired should be listed. Just tap on it and the app will be ready to use the hardware device. You can then go back to the main menu and process bookings. 

Android

  1. On your device go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
  2. Make sure the switch is ON.
  3. The device will start scanning for hardware devices nearby.
  4. Turn on the hardware device you want to pair. Normally a light will start blinking which means it is also searching for devices to connect to.
  5. Once your hardware device shows in the list of Available Devices, select it from the list.
  6. Sometimes there is a beep sound indicating the pairing has been completed. In the case of the Zebra Printer, it will print a key number pin (in case your device asks for a pin). 
  7. Once the hardware device is paired it will be displayed as "connected" on your android device.
  8. Exist the settings and go back to your Apps screen.
  9. You can now launch the Zaui Mobile App.
  10. After logging in and the loading of the 30-min activities screen, go to the App Settings and from the options click on Select Printer or Cash Drawer (depending on the hardware device your are pairing).
  11. The printer you paired should be listed. Just tap on it and the app will be ready to use the printer. You can then go back to the main menu and process bookings. 

Pairing the Zebra CS4070 Companion Scanner

This hardware device has different instructions to pair it with your Zaui Mobile App.

IOS

  1. Launch the Mobile Zaui App on your device.
  2. Login to your system.
  3. Select the Settings Icon.

  4. Select Barcode to pair the scanner.
  5. A barcode will be displayed.

  6. Turn on your scanner and scan the barcode.
  7. A beep will sound on the scanner indicating the pairing is complete.
  8. Select Back from the top panel.
  9. From the settings options select Connect to External QR Scanner. 
  10. A screen will display with the scanner name that you have just paired. Select it and this will allow the Zaui Mobile App to use it. 

Android

  1. Launch the Zaui Mobile App.
  2. Login to your system.
  3. Select the Settings Icon.
  4. From the list, select Connect to External QR Code Scanner.
  5. The screen will display a barcode.
  6. Turn on your scanner and scan the barcode.
  7. The device will then be paired and is ready to be used!
  8. The box below the barcode will indicate if a ticket was scanned successfully when in use.

Setting up CC Swipers

noun_attention_1436012__1_.png *** Please note that the UniMag II Swiper currently has compatibility issues with Android devices. If you are looking at that particular CC Swiper, we recommend you reach out to us at support@zaui.com, and provide us with your android device model number to verify if the cc swiper will be compatible or not.

Credit Card swipers need to be plugged into your device to set-up them and to use them.

  1. Plug the CC swiper into the headphone jack of your device.
  2. Allow access to the microphone if asked.
  3. Set volume to max.

When entering CC information when making a booking there will be an indicator showing the swiper is connected. on iOS 14 you will see a 'mic is active' indicator in the status bar.
